Report: Education Department Official Assisted Failing For-Profit Colleges

The Washington Post reported yesterday that an aide for U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos played a role in helping for-profit colleges that were failing.

For profit colleges are all too often scams designed to use students’ ability to acquire student loans without providing them with the requisite education. DeVos’ aide Dieane Auer Jones support for these fraudulent “schools” is just one more example of this administration putting the profit of friends above the interests of the public. We must make for-profit colleges financially liable for failure to actually give their students the education they claim they provide.
